Winner of the People’s Choice and Director’s Choice Awards at this year’s NEWH scholarship fundraiser, Carlson Joyce Interior Design is honored for their creative contribution: the “Bling Chair”, the chair with a bright personality.The Life of Design event was held on October 14, 2011 showcasing the creative talents of 15 Dallas design firms. Each firm was randomly paired with a manufacturer and challenged to create a design using 50% of a manufacturer’s product on the standard wooden library chair.

What makes this product special?

The Life of Design event was held on October 14, 2011 showcasing the creative talents of 15 Dallas design firms. Each firm was randomly paired with a manufacturer and challenged to create a design using 50% of a manufacturer's product on the standard wooden library chair.

Carlson Joyce Interior Design was paired with HB Architectural Lighting. Together, the team created the "Bling Chair" and won 2 of the 3 award categories, the People's Choice and the Director's Choice Awards. The People's Choice Award was determined by the event guests who purchased tickets, worth $1, and put them into the box in front of each chair. The Director's Choice Award was given to the chair sold for the highest price in a silent auction. Between the two awards, the Bling Chair brought in almost $1,000 that will be used to provide scholarships to students studying curriculums related to the hospitality industry.

Barbara and Gina are very excited to win the awards, but most of all they are proud that the team effort will result in making a difference in the education of a deserving student.
