InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world's leading hotel companies, has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo® London – Aldgate in the UK's capital. The newly built hotel will operate under a franchise agreement with Meadow Partners and Roquebrook. The 207-room hotel opening in 2017 will be located in Aldgate place, east of the City Of London.

Set in the heart of a major residential and commercial development project taking shape along Leman Street and Aldgate East, the hotel will be close to key business districts including Canary Wharf, the City of London and Liverpool Street. Some of London's most popular tourist attractions including Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market, the Tower of London and Southbank will be located on the hotel's door step.

The hotel is situated nearby several underground tube stations including Aldgate East, Aldgate and Tower Hill, and also has great connections to City Airport.

Anna Corkill, Development Director, UK & Ireland, IHG said: "Together with Meadow Partners and Roquebrook we're proud to be bringing the first Hotel Indigo hotel to East London. London is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world and is therefore a key global city for everyone. With so many unique neighbourhoods, it is the perfect location for the brand and this latest signing is very much in line with our growth plans for the city."

Simon Blakeborough, Director of Roquebrook said: "This area is so alive and is a melting pot of cultures, cuisines art and architecture, making it the perfect neighbourhood for a Hotel Indigo hotel. It really is a fantastic place to visit whether you are travelling for business or leisure. This is our second Hotel Indigo hotel that we're developing in the UK and we look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with IHG."

Just as no two neighbourhoods are alike, no two Hotel Indigo properties are alike. Each is designed to uniquely reflect the local culture, character and history of the surrounding area. Hotel Indigo hotels create a truly memorable experience by artfully combining the modern design and intimate service associated with a boutique hotel, with the conveniences and consistencies you can expect from staying at one of the world's largest hotel groups.

Last year the Hotel Indigo brand celebrated its tenth anniversary with the opening of its 60th hotel globally – Hotel Indigo® Paris Opera. IHG's global expansion has accelerated over the past three years, with the portfolio of open hotels outside of the US more than tripling in size as the brand continues to attract high quality opportunities in new gateway cities. In Europe, there are 19 Hotel Indigo properties open with a further 11 hotels in IHG's development pipeline. Of those, nine Hotel Indigo properties are open in the UK and a further eight are in the pipeline in addition to the one announced today*.

IHG's broader family of brands in nearly 100 countries meets the needs of guests, whatever the occasion – whether an overnight getaway, a business trip, a family celebration or a once-in-a-lifetime experience. All IHG hotels participate in IHG's guest loyalty programme, IHG® Rewards Club, which is the industry's first and largest guest loyalty programme with more than 90 million members*.
